Upper Nasson Apartments

Nasson College opened in Springvale in 1912. The college reached a student enrollment of over 900 in the late 1960s. Due to declining enrollment and financial pressures, Nasson College closed in 1983.

Since then, a majority of the buildings have been sold to private developers and renovated to supply housing, office space, a health care facility, and a gymnasium/theater. The last vacancies on the former campus, 3 dormitories in disrepair will become market-rate apartments. Nate Green and Chris Marshall, who run GreenMars Real Estate Services, will rehab the former dormitories and prepare them for rental. The 27-acre property will be home to 83 units, walking trails, and a trailhead for the Rail Trail.

Hanscom Hall,
built in 1968, will have 28 units. GreenMars says classic features of the building like commons areas will remain.

Forbes Hall, built in 1966, was designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. The former dorm will have 32 units.

Pryor-Hussey Hall, the oldest of the 3 buildings, built in 1964, will have 23 units.

Downtown Springvale is only a 0.5-mile walk or bike ride from the Upper Nasson Apartments. We are hopeful the proximity to downtown Springvale will encourage walking and biking for services.

The rehabilitation project is slated to start in the Summer of 2023.
