Emergency Management

What is Emergency Management?
Emergency management is the department charged with creating the framework for our community to reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters.

Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Sanford Emergency Management Agency is to minimize the impacts of a disaster on the property and lives of our residents, businesses, and visitors through the coordination of response assets.  We accomplish this by application of the principles and best practices of the four phases of Emergency Management; Preparedness, Response, Recovery, and Mitigation, using an all-hazards (natural, human-caused, and technical) approach.

How Do We Serve You?
We coordinate the development and maintenance of the city's emergency response and hazard plans for threatened or actual natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other man-made disasters.
