The Sanford Police Departments Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for the investigations of all major crimes that occur in the City. All cases that are assigned to CID are investigated with the utmost dedication and professionalism using the most current investigative techniques. Detective work is highly specialized and includes advanced crime scene photography, evidence processing, digital forensics, and advanced search warrant writing. CID works with all state and federal law enforcement organizations. CID supports the Patrol Division with criminal investigations.

Major Crimes CID investigates Aggravated Assaults, Missing Persons, Arson, Robbery, Sex Crimes, Human Trafficking, Sex Offender Registration, Burglary, White Collar, Theft and Embezzlement, Elder Fraud, and Identity Theft.
