Fire Chief Steven Benotti Final Thoughts

It's hard to give a parting thought because this job has become very complex in what we do, how we do it, and all that is involved.

I do wish to thank each member of The Sanford Fire Department for their dedication and hard work to get everything accomplished we have in the last 8 years. It took a lot of cooperation and serious work to become a premiere emergency service organization and for that I am very proud of every person involved.

I also wish to thank the citizens of the City of Sanford for their continued support of this department and for the city officials who have also supported our mission in serving the City.

Like the veterans of the military, our first responders have put themselves in harm’s way for a greater good throughout their career and did so willingly to protect and save the members of their community. The average firefighter will tell you it’s because its “Our Job and it is what we do”. This has come at great expense for some who have had career ending injuries, cancer, PTSD, and the like as we have seen the horror that is part of our world and dealt with it so others would not have to.

Please continue to support your emergency services of the city and let them know that you care, it goes a long way. I truly hope that the city stay vigilant in the building of new fire stations as they are desperately needed for the continued health, safety, and operations of this department.
