City Council Appoints New Fire Chief

At March 21st City Council Meeting, the Council appointed Scott D. Susi to the position of Chief of the Sanford Fire Department to become effective April 27th.
The City conducted a national search for the Fire Chief position and received 10 Applications producing a very strong field of Candidates. The interview process consisted of 2 oral boards with City staff and leadership, medical professionals, and Fire Chiefs from neighboring communities. The unanimous decision was made to extend the offer of the position to Scott D. Susi.

Scott Susi's Qualifications Include:
  • 32 years as a medic.
  • 20 years as a Combat Medical Specialist Maine Army National Guard/ U.S. Army Reserve Surgical First Assistant.
  • 20 years of Fire and EMS Services as a Firefighter, Paramedic, Ambulance Director, and Health Officer.
  • 11 years as Fire Chief of Caribou Fire-EMS Department.

  • The American Legion – Firefighter of the Year
